A pair of original production drawings from the Walt Disney Studios animated musical masterpiece, Fantasia (1940). Featuring the insidious Chernabog and his ghastly demons from the Night on Bald Mountain segment, the blue and grey graphite drawings were created at the studio and used during the animation process. The matching drawings exemplify the layering technique used to add the visual special effects to the Chernabog. Animated largely by Disney legend Bill Tytla, the Chernabog was acted out by Wilfred Jackson as reference, as Tytla was not impressed with Dracula actor Bela Lugosi's interpretation of the character. In Slavic folklore, Bald Mountains are sinister locations where Witches periodically gather for their Sabbath. Measuring 12.5"x15.5" each, with images measuring 7"x4.5" and 3.5"x4", the drawings are in very good condition with light edge wear, page wrinkling and a light crease across the page with the demons.
