A production background from the Hanna Barbera Studios series "The Smurfs" (1981-1989). Featuring the deck of a pirate ship, the hand-painted background was created at the studio and used during the animation process. The background is an actual frame of animation that was photographed and appears in the thirteenth episode of season five, titled "Marco Smurf and the Pepper Pirates," which aired on October 19, 1985. Measuring 10.5"x 15" overall, with the image itself measuring 9.75"x14", the background is in very good condition with minor handling wear.
